I have enjoyed a lifelong tenure as an amateur and professional photographer. Having become quite proficient with creating representational imagery, I am increasingly unfulfilled with the resulting images which provide great memories yet lack artistic interest. Until recently I have considered myself to be a photographer but not an artist, representational but not expressive. This is changing. A current intention is to explore what it means to discover and develop the artist within.
Employing in-camera and software techniques facilitates the creation of unique artistic renderings of digital camera imagery. Intentional camera movement and multiple exposure techniques combined with software tools allow me to interpret what I am seeing and feeling as a photographic expression. The results are abstract, nonrepresentational and personally fulfilling. As well, often the new images offer surprising revelations of realms unseen calling to be viewed in new light.
